What Are the Visual Arts

The visual arts are those creations that we can see rather than something like the auditory arts, which we hear. These art forms are extremely diverse, from the artwork that hangs on your wall to the movie you watched last night. What Types of Art Are Visual Arts? The visual arts include mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, film, and printmaking. Many of these pieces of art are created to stimulate us through a visual experience. When we look at them, they often provoke a feeling of some sort. Within the visual arts is a category known as the decorative arts, or craft. This is art that is more utilitarian and has a function but retains an artistic style and still requires talent to create. The decorative arts include ceramics, furniture making, textiles, interior design, jewelry making, metal crafting, and woodworking. What Are The Arts? The arts, as a term, has an interesting history. During the Middle Ages, the arts were scholarly, limited to seven categories, and did not involve creating anything for people to look at. They were grammar, rhetoric, dialectic logic, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. To further confuse matters, these seven arts were known as the fine arts, in order to distinguish them from the useful arts because only fine people—those who did not do manual labor—studied them. Presumably, the useful arts people were too busy being useful to require an education. At some point in the ensuing centuries, people realized there was a difference between a science and an art. The phrase fine arts came to mean anything that had been created to please the senses. After losing the sciences, the list then included music, dance, opera, and literature, as well as what we think of as the visual arts: painting, sculpture, architecture, and the decorative arts. That list of fine arts got a little long for some. During the 20th century, the fine arts were split up into further categories. Within the world of the visual arts, people still make distinctions between fine art and everything else. It really does get confusing, and it can change, depending on who youre speaking with. For instance, painting and sculpture are almost automatically classified as fine arts. The decorative arts, which are at times exhibit a finer nature and craftsmanship than some fine arts, are not called fine. Additionally, visual artists sometimes refer to themselves (or are referred to by others) as fine artists, as opposed to commercial artists. However, some commercial art is really wonderful—even fine, some would say. Because an artist needs to sell art in order to remain a working artist, a strong argument could be made that most art is commercial. Instead, the category of commercial art is typically reserved for art created to sell something else, such as for an advertisement. This is exactly the kind of wording that puts many people off of art. It would really simplify matters if we could all just stick with visual, auditory, performance, or literary when we speak of the arts and eliminate fine altogether, but thats now how the art world sees it.

On the same required changes, research activities should be performed to determine the reactions of the parties involved. Also, benchmark studies need to be performed to determine the pros, cons, and impacts of integrating ICT in education processes. Preferred Institution: In a years time, the school should be able to have initiated sensitization programs on the importance of integrating ICT into the operational framework of the school including the academic, administrative, and management aspects. The school is expected to have more interactive boards as well. After five years, there should be enough ICT devices including computers, laptops, interactive boards, projectors, and even tablets. Proper incentives including government policies should be in place to facilitate ICT learning processes. ICT teachers should be recruited as well as students learning the same course admitted. ICT content also need to be added to the school curriculum. In ten years time, a lot of changes ought to be made. First and foremost, online courses should have been introduced and efficiently offered. Again, a better database management system should be introduced in the three sectors i.e. management, administrative, and academic. The system would ease management of data as well as increase efficiency of operations. The school should also be able to effectively incorporate ICT in almost all the courses offered. The intake of ICT students should be massive. Technology should dominate every academic process. Strategies of Stakeholders Alignment and Change Levers All the individuals involved in educational activities will be sensitized on the impacts and benefits of having ICT incorporated in their processes of teaching. All the hardware and software resources as well as the support staff required to achieve the goals of the organization. Change Management Plan The institution has the capacity to initiate the suggested changes though management and maintenance of the same is likely to cause problems. However, I would recommend that such changes be initiated because they would have massive impacts on the school. If such changes are not done, the institution wouldnt be able to survive in the current technological world. However, since the organization has its success depending on Team Corporation, it is vital that all the stakeholders take part in the sustenance of the recommended changes. This implementation plan should be evaluated within a six months period and the progress examine after every three year interval (Vincent, 1992). Conclusion In this assignment, an implementation plan has been devised to have the teaching practices of a tertiary college in India transformed to meet the current technological standards of the country. They specifically dont make mention of any logos because for one, there just arent any really good reasons, and two, because it isnt necessary due to the number and strength of the messages ethos and pathos. This strong emphasis on ethos is a wise decision because it is very well manifest. In another pop-up option they use an association with a high-class society to support their credibility. As a member of this intended audience, being born in Texas, and therefore having football in my blood, I feel this is strongly appeals to me. Not only as seeing them in a game of this different version of the sport, but also in the things they offer at the games. They offer things like prizes, interactive games, and free jerseys. This is a very successful mode of appealing to sports enthusiasts. The U.S. army also makes an attempt to appeal to a larger audience by offering an online video game. This would attract the attention of many youth who are now into this recent fad. The pop-up screen strengthens this appeal by using such terms as innovative and highly realistic. This Official Army Game, therefore reaches its intended audience of the computer savvy generation that has begun to emerge. The purpose is to get these young people to play this game, so that their interest in signing up and doing the real thing might grow. In my case however, because I only play these games because Im too lazy to do the real thing, this method might not be so effective. But the army even has that base covered by stating that just by playing their new game you can Gain experience as a Soldier in the U.S. Army, without ever leaving your desk. The scene it portrays appears to be a desert campaign, so there may also be an implied pull here at recent events in the Middle East. Therefore there may be more than just a fun appeal here, but also a type of appeal to political beliefs and interests. Overall, the U.S. Army most successfully uses the emotion of patriotism as well as the Armys reputation to successfully appeal to its intended audience. They made their message even more appealing, by presenting the message over a wide medium, which is the World Wide Web. These reasons would be enough for me to join if I didnt have any other reasons not to do so. Personally, I feel I owe my country so much for the freedoms it provides me, and the army for protecting those freedoms. I feel a strong sense of duty to serve my country, and I almost enlisted the day the towers fell, but an even deeper emotion runs through me, and that is toward my mother. Because she is truly the one who provides me with all that I have, and if she had let me go that day, I would have. Needless to say, she did not, and so I am here. My mother says I can serve my country better this way.
